The South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is located in western North Dakota along I-94. A paved, 36 mile loop road includes scenic pullouts and interpretive signs explaining some of the park's historical and natural features. The Medora Visitor Center is located at the south entrance of the park and has a museum, theater, information desk, and a publications outlet. Roosevelt's Matlese Cross Cabin is behind the visitor center. The Medora Visitor Center is open year round.
Painted Canyon Visitor Center is located in the South Unit 7 miles east of Medora along I-94 and is open daily from April to November. Painted Canyon Visitor Center offers an information desk, overlook, restrooms, picnic shelters, sales outlet, and exhibits.
The North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is located near Watford City along US Highway 85. The North Unit Visitor Center has an information desk, theater, exhibits, and a sales outlet. The visitor center is open year round. A 14 mile paved scenic drive from the entrance station to the Oxbow Overlook provides turnouts and interpretive signs.
